Whoa Election Day! I know the whole world isn’t daily watching or reeling from what America has been going these past years, but wow, major human milestone!
Because America has power and clout far beyond her borders.
But these Wordplays are supposed to be light and encouraging so let’s get to it!
Not just your health, how’s your Heart these days? <3
2020 locked our world down, and just as we’re touching streets again, the News of Yet Another police killing sets our global heart on fire.
My Dutch kids are literally watching in their classrooms what mom, grandma and grandpa have been speaking for years–not always subtle, sometimes hearts hurt too much to break it down slow.
But life has many wrecked patches. This is our human heritage.
Where do we take our stand?
For anyone who thought ‘I want nothing to do with God, or “Christians” because of what they do, say, put into policy’ (read: USA, White House), or for any who had the bible used against them, outcasts not “good enough” for “Church,” or those who asked too many questions, had too many ideas, or just didn’t fit. To all who wonder if unconditional love is real, if God cares, or if there are better things to come.. This if for you. <3
Rebel Christian Alphabet. Rock heartily.
A – Always look up, because this world will break your heart and press your soul like a coffee bean–read: crush.
B – Be Weary of people who claim to be Christian, or quote scripture(s) but have a way, rhetoric or straight-up deeds that are anything but Christ-like.
C – Compassion is the Compass
D – Don’t be Afraid to Stand Up for what you believe in, Speak Out for those who can’t speak for themselves, and Fight Hard to the Finish (usque ad finem)
I saw The Dark Crystal as a little kid. It was epic, wonder-full, and so timeless I gladly shared it with my own kids some years back. Now Netflix created a stunning Series version: The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and Season 1 is a thrilling prequel to all that unfolded in the original movie.
The Weak Will Defeat the Strong?
I remember two lone Gelflings and the seemingly uber mighty, lumbering, vicious Skeksis. These rash and rude, self-proclaimed rulers of Thra were stealing power from the Crystal to live forever. And the little, almost hopeless Gelflings had the impossible task of defeating them…
There’s more than enough for everyone. Really. On a planet with people starving and naked…
The core problem, imo, may be so simple that few believe it. (or we’re so far from our humanity…).
Imagine a city so loaded with gold and gems they become standard building materials. Add other precious metals and stones to the mix and just marvel. It’d be palatial, decadent, … God-like?
“Streets of gold” is a phrase probably rooted in a bible passage on heaven: “… The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass…” (Revelation 21:21)
But I don’t care if it’s true or not. The real question for me is: What good is all that Gold??
