This starts with a snail named Turbo who dreams of speed. When Turbo almost drowns in an engine filled with nitrous oxide–and my kids and I started getting nervous– I started to wonder: isn’t that stuff laughing gas??
SNL skits and Steve Martin flashed before me, and I checked wiki to confirm: sure enough, the stuff that numbs pain and causes giggles is the same stuff that turns car horsepower into unicorn power.
I don’t believe in coincidences so what’s God trying to say??
Speed and Joy can go together like Slow and Annoyed, but maybe the connection runs deeper. What if Fun, Laughter, and Joy are some of our Greatest Weapons in life?
Maybe that’s why they’re constantly under attack…

This post is part of the #GodsOneLines series–breaking hate and/or shame caused by people wielding bible verses. Instead I want to use single bible verses or events to encourage and reveal God’s Heart if possible.
This story starts with Tears– mine as I write, and Heaven’s one fateful day.
It starts with the return of Jews from Babylonian exile. Their repeated offenses, including refusing to set servants free, caught up with them despite divine warnings. Sure, they listened for a time, but soon after changed their minds, re-taking men, women and children into captivity (sounds like the Moses story with Pharaoh, right?)

Pearl formation is a mysterious process, and despite our scientific advances we’ve yet to create one outside the “womb” of an oyster.* Reflecting on this and our relationship with God (with the hope of not sounding blasphemous on one side, or religious on the other) here are some thoughts:
On the surface, God, like the Oyster, may seem Hard: rigid rules, drastic consequences… a distant and frightening God. But cut the oyster open and you discover something Soft—God’s Heart is more tender than we dared to dream… Continue reading “Pearl and Mother of Pearl – You are God’s Magnum Opus”

It’s so easy to take vision and the beauty of color for granted. Watch the video when someone who is colorblind sees purple for the first time. Get a glimpse of how beautiful the world around us actually is. His response to grass broke my blind heart. Continue reading “Watch: Colorblind man sees Purple for the First Time #HeavenGlimpse”
Apparently, when seen from above, rainbows are actually CIRCLES! Considering rainbows are noted as symbolizing the promise of God never to wipe out the earth with water again, it seems appropriate that it be a circle, like a ring: never-ending and unbroken, like promises are supposed to be… Continue reading “Rainbows are actually Full Circles!”
Apparently all that ‘dust’ on your fingers after touching a butterfly wing is actually individual scales, like fish scales. And each scale has a tip, imagine the base of a feather. What?! Continue reading “Makes no sense…Butterfly Wings”
Remember the glass elevator from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? In the end when Charlie wins the grandprize, Willy Wonka pushes the button and the elevator bursts through the factory roof, zooming through the air. What an unexpected, wild and wonderful freedom explosion! We may have ideas about how God is and how He might communicate with us, but, like that crazy glass elevator, I believe God, and our relationship with Him, can be much cooler than we could ever imagine… Continue reading “God’s Glass Elevator”
Makes no sense….the Hexagon on Saturn’s North Pole…
Is someone doing air-traffic control there?
