How many times could you use some encouragement? When you’re about to try something new, or get out of your comfort zone. Or just to remind you you’re ok.
I was getting coffee with some special service recently and asked the name of the server taking such care with my order. He replied, “Lucas.” to which I responded, “nice meaning!” Then he mentioned actually not knowing the meaning.
He said he never knew, beamed, and I was so happy to share it!
Couldn’t we all use a reminder that we are light-givers (‘Lucas’), or warriors (‘Martin’), wisdom-tellers (‘Ronald’, ‘Freddy,’)… in this world?
Your name has a meaning. But none of ours are unique.
Even if your parents made up your name, it may have roots in other names. Or maybe they had an intention.
It might be worth looking into. Is it a name to live up to or strive for? Or maybe even a name to exist Against.
And even if you have a great name, who hasn’t heard theirs spoken with disdain?
Shouted at, annoyed with, spoken with a sigh of dissapointment. We’ve all experienced this.
So here comes a favorite bible verse/promise/hope:
One known only to us, having never been on the lips of another, or repeated on another person, much less breathed with disparragement, embarrassment, in jest, or with a bad attitude.
A name completely unique to us is fitting to a completely unique person.
It suits that all individuals, from hand and finger prints, irises, teeth, tongue prints.. even each hairstrand should also have a totally unique name.
For God’s sake, even snowflakes that last an instant and dissapear for eternity, are each one of a kind, never to be repeated.
So how much more you, fellow Human?!
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says.. (..) To him that overcomes (..) I will give a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows except he who receives it..”
I can’t wait to find out what mine may be. What might you choose?
Jesus H. Christ! Even Jesus is supposed to get a new one! 😉

I sometimes use “He” as a pronoun for God but fully recognize God with male/female “identity” (for lack of a better word), as demonstrated in Genesis 1:27, expressed throughout the bible, and evidenced by humanity. See two-part post: Transgender God for more.
