This is Day 3 from the #UnashamedList Series. Special series written especially for youth or young adults navigating issues like sexual integrity, porn addiction, identity, etc. Series intro here.
Money isn’t the purpose of life.
I know media and music clips imply otherwise, but aren’t we made for more than amassing wealth?
I’m from the US (“United” States), a melting pot of cultures and former refuge for those seeking shelter from harm, or the humble hope of providing the best you can for your children.
I know what it’s like to have and love stuff. But America is synonymous with bigger/better/more, and everyone is watching the country turn in on itself. Greed and Hate are like evil, tag-teaming twins.
Truth: You can work 2 full time jobs and still be homeless. (news)
In the picture above, which coin do you think is the Trump Presidential one? Which looks more “Presidential”? Depending on your answer, is the world shaping your ideas about what real glory and greatness is?
A few years back I asked a young friend what she planned to do with her life. She was working in a restaurant at the time. Her answer floored me: “Be a millionaire.”
I’m not one to knock aspirations, but it’s my deep hope that we’re born with greater dreams and purpose than mere gold digging.
Question: What would you do, create, or what chances would you take, if you didn’t have to worry about your next pay check? (#UniversalBasicIncome) Take the poll below.

We aren’t just drops in the ocean, but the entire Ocean in one drop – Rumi. Shouldn’t our passions, creativity, hopes and talents be allowed to explode to full bloom? (click to tweet)
But hey, I’m no millionaire. What do I know?
Here’s some perspective from Aston Kutcher. Fellow human, celebrity heartthrob, creative entrepreneur, founder of Thorn (digital defenders against child sexual abuse/exploitation), …
WATCH: He Kills. It.
“The Sexiest thing in the entire world….is being really Smart. And Thoughtful. And being Generous. Everything else is Crap, I promise. It’s crap that people try to sell to you to make you feel like less. Don’t Buy It.” – Kutcher (tweet)
Pursue your highest goals. Find your Passion. If you don’t know where to start, scan your heart for the thing hurting it most. That thing you try to ignore every time you hear/see/read about it.
Where the sore spot is may be the very thing you were born to destroy… (click to tweet)
But whether we’re fighting to right the world, or simply express ourselves, or Just. Be., my hope is this:
Let money be just a thing, and not the thing. <3

It’s refreshing and really cool how Ashton Kutcher defined “sexy.”
Thanks for another thought-provoking post filled with great nuggets to ponder and put into practice. Appreciate it.
