Social Justice or Sodomy? The Real Reason Sodom Burned

When did two people getting married become a bad thing?
When did consenting adults committing to a life of love and faithfulness together become something to mobilize against– by people professing a doctrine founded on unconditional love??!

There’s much judgement and hate directed towards those with a homosexual or bisexual lifestyle, and those identifying as transgender have recently been called out of Armed Service, cruelly (e.g. via twitter), and without genuine cause, despite each of these people writing blank checks to Uncle Sam payable up and unto their very lives.

Secretary of Defense Matthis urging Soldiers across all Branches to “Hold the Line” as America gets it’s act together…

Christians should be extra sensitive to others persecuted, like the whole LGBTQA community (and I just have to say, transgender youth suffer a disproportionate amount of bullying and all spinoffs, e.g. depression, substance abuse, suicide, also homelessness–and murder counts are breaking me).

Do we only love our neighbor if they fit a certain package?  Can we truly accept people as they are, without a hidden agenda?

A Church is supposed to be a beacon of Social Justice, Equality (man, woman, child, creature..), and Heart.

Where is that Church now?

If you’re watching America you may think Christians are those siding with hurtful, oppressive, wall-building, human-banning, insurance-withholding policies. Anything from pussy grabbing, to disabled person mocking, scamming the poor, or thinking about sex when seeing 10 yr olds, is acceptable if done by someone supporting a ‘pro-life’ position and affirming marriage is between a man and woman. (bonus if you support Israel!).

These people honor me with their lips-heart far from me

But God isn’t fooled. “Bible” thumpers of Jesus’ day, crusaders employing convert or die theology, people burning crosses and bombing abortion clinics… Christianity has become a false label at best, cruel club at worst.

But there are some Christians (troublemakers and blasphemers, just like Jesus was accused of) who can’t help but grow deeper in respect and love for every human and mother nature, with a special brokenness for all oppressed and suffering.

So, I ask you: Considering “gay marriage” and the “golden rule” ask yourself:

Would you want strangers having a say over who you love or marry? Would you want people protesting at your wedding? Or funeral?

Sodom and Gomorrah is often used to support God’s wrath against homosexuality, but here’s God’s side of the story:

“Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy. 50They were haughty, and did abomination before me.”  (Ezekiel 16:49-50)
(from Hebrew: abomination–loathsome, abominable thing(s) in ritual or ethical sense).

We don’t read about men sleeping with men (or women with women), but instead find uppity, selfish people who lost sense of their humanity and heart. In addition, Genesis reveals the cry of the city –pleas and prayers of the people (and probably animals too) was Great. We also read about community-wide rape. Men, women and children, not unlike today where 1 in 3 experience some form of sexual abuse before they turn 18.

bible hating using verses to hate not love -lgbtq transgender all humans

Two adults engaging in consensual sex warrants no plea to God for help, but it may result in a cry for relief from those persecuting them. Hmm.

In a world where some “churched” are fighting Love and loving relationships because of the packaging people come in, we’ve lost sight of real injustice, oppression, poverty, and torture. And thus we’ve lost sight of God’s Heart.

Pink Speech-no longer talk about gay marriage but happy marriage-LGBT Rights and Equality

I’ve been to many churches and never heard a sermon preached on the last line in the following verse. If you judge anything, let it be against that list below. And even if our churches or brethren sleep, let that never be said about us.

Keep your heart #woke.

Fruit of the Spirit - against such things there is no law
Most people stop at .. self control, but the last line–“Against such things there is No Law”–is crucial. *Crucial, origin Latin–crux (cross).

*I use He and His as simple pronouns for God but fully recognize God with male and female ‘identity (for lack of a better word) as evidenced throughout the Bible and most blatantly throughout humanity. Contemplate more in the Transgender God, 2-pt series, if you like.
